Brett is licensed to practice in the states of Ohio, Illinois and District of Columbia.
Brett has lectured extensively on issues of interest to the firm’s clients including: covenants not to compete, internal investigations under Sarbanes-Oxley, and current issues in electronic discovery.
Brett is a Board Member of the Positive Education Program, a non-profit agency which provides the community’s children with quality education and mental health services.

Brett is an experienced trial lawyer who is head of the firm’s litigation practice. He initially began his practice focusing on commercial litigation with a national firm in Washington, D.C. Subsequently, he returned to his home town of Cleveland, Ohio and continued to focus on business litigation including in the areas of securities, contract disputes, unfair competition, restrictive covenants and trade secrets.
Since joining the firm, Brett has continued his work for a diverse client base from small entrepreneurial entities to large public companies. He has worked on diverse matters from quickly growing non-compete injunctive actions to elongated federal securities class-actions. He continues to focus on broker-dealer issues as well as business disputes impacting the firm’s clients.
From 2008 to 2010, Brett has been named an Ohio Super Lawyer, a distinction bestowed on the top 5% of licensed attorneys in the state as determined by their peers. He was named a Super Lawyer in the field of Securities Litigation.
